It might not work

Twice this week I caught myself describing to a colleague a project I’m working on and saying “It might not work.”

This is new for me. By nature, I tend to play it safe. But I’ve come to accept the reality that it’s OK to punch a whole in the boat as long as it’s above the waterline. I see that the only way to innovate (and to learn and to grow) is to take risks. This doesn’t come easily to E&C professionals, whose job it is to minimize risks. But not taking any risks can be the riskier path.

What risk could you take today?
